[B2B] Glazyr Viz: Eliminating the WebDriver Tax — Benchmarks & Enterprise Vision

⚡ Glazyr Viz B2B: Eliminating the WebDriver Tax

The Glazyr Viz consumer beta has concluded. We are now pivoting to exclusive B2B infrastructure, delivering enterprise-grade vision for AI agent platforms. This post outlines our benchmarked performance and the technical thesis behind the pivot.

🔍 The Problem: The "WebDriver Tax"

Every agentic browser system today — Playwright, Selenium, Puppeteer — captures page state through CDP (Chrome DevTools Protocol) screenshots. This pipeline is inherently wasteful:

  • JPEG encode → Base64 → WebSocket → Decode for every single frame
  • ~60 KB per frame of bandwidth consumed
  • 80–250 ms latency per capture
  • 15–25% CPU overhead per agent (limiting density to ~8 agents/node)

We call this the "WebDriver Tax" — the hidden infrastructure cost that inflates every AI agent's cloud bill.

🛡️ The Solution: Zero-Copy Shared Memory (SHM)

Glazyr Viz replaces the entire CDP screenshot pipeline with a Zero-Copy Shared Memory DMA read. The frame is never serialized, never base64-encoded, and never transferred over a socket.

Metric Traditional (Playwright) Glazyr Viz (SHM)
Per-frame bandwidth ~40–120 KB 0 bytes
Capture latency 80–250 ms 7.35 ms
CPU overhead per agent 15–25% < 2%
Max sustainable FPS ~4 FPS 60+ FPS
Agent density per node ~8 ~50

📊 Hardened Build Benchmarks

Benchmarked on GCP n2-standard-4, 10 runs per metric. Build: Glazyr Viz 147.0.7696.0-hardened.

Metric Standard Build Glazyr (Hardened) Improvement
Page Load (TTI) 198 ms 142 ms 28% faster
JS Execution 184 ms 110 ms 40% faster
Binary Size 416 MB 294 MB 29% smaller
Memory (RSS) 110 MB 88 MB 20% leaner

🏆 SOTA Achievement

WebVoyager-Patch Benchmark: 100% success rate at 7.35 ms vision latency — exceeding the industry sub-16ms requirement by 2.2×.

💰 The Cost Argument

At scale, the savings compound dramatically. Companies running 100+ concurrent browser agents can expect 78–89% reduction in vision infrastructure costs by switching from a traditional Playwright stack to Glazyr's SHM pipeline.

The break-even threshold is approximately 15 concurrent agents. Below that, running your own Playwright stack is marginally cheaper. Above it, every additional agent amplifies the savings.

Additionally, Glazyr eliminates the VLM token tax — the ~80,000 tokens per frame of base64 JPEG that gets sent to vision language models (GPT-4o, Claude, etc.) in traditional workflows. With SHM, the frame is never serialized to tokens at all.

🚀 What's Next

  • Enterprise SDK & Validator Program: We are onboarding design partners for the enterprise SHM pipeline.
  • MCP-Native Integration: Glazyr Viz is an MCP Server — plug into any MCP-compatible agent framework with zero custom middleware.
  • Security Hardening: CFI + ThinLTO + V8 Virtual Memory Cage ship by default. Enterprise security that increases performance.
